AMNIOFIX® Sports Med

What is it?

AmnioFix® Sports Med is human amniotic membrane graft in a powder
form that is mixed with an anesthetic for injection into the injured area. Amniotic membrane has been used for 100 years on all parts of
the body.

How does it work?

Soft tissue trauma or overuse can cause micro-tears that become inflamed. Scar tissue immediately begins to form and can impede full recovery. Conservative treatments such as oral and topical anti-inflammatories, rest, and bracing are important, but may not be enough.

AmnioFix injectible contains growth factors and cytokines that effectively reduce inflammation, reduce scar tissue formation, and enhance healing of micro-tears in soft tissue.

What is the treatment process with AmnioFix
and what should I expect after treatment?

During your evaluation and consultation your doctor will determine if AmnioFix injectable is a viable treatment
option for you.

The only side effects of the injection are local redness and tenderness of the injection site that can be minimized with ice and elevation. This discomfort may last for 2-3 days. If it lasts longer, you should inform your doctor.

After your AmnioFix injection it is important to follow the doctor’s instructions which may include physical therapy
or immobilization.

How many injections will I need?

You and your doctor should decide together based on your response to the initial injection.
